Take Charge – Take Responsibility

By Pastor Chris

To often we blame others or try to shift responsibility. It seems like we live in a day when people forecat themselves as victims. In fact the drama of victimization occurs so often people actually beleive they are victims and others believe they have been victimized. It has become a vicious cycle of reality in our culture and world.

Whatever happened to take responsibility. If you get a ticket…own up to it! Don’t blame the cop for your speeding! If yoiu have a child…take care of them in this life with love, nurturing, care and provisions. Don’t shun the responsibility or blame others…it is your child. THe list of examples could go on and on! I have been guilty of blame casting myself. I have in many ways shunned my responsibilities from time to time. And I must admit there are times that we may actually be victims, but even in those times real people don’t cast blame. They pull up their bootstraps and keep doing what is right.

On my desk sits a small reminder to me everyday to be responsible for the things God has given me. It is the same motto that sat on Harry S. Truman’s desk when he was in the office of President of the United States of America. It simply states, "The Buck Stops Here!"

To me that means take charge and take responsility. Acknowledge what you can change and what you cannot change. Go forth and make a difference. Be a person of integrity. And by all means do not become a victim by self-proclamation.

In the end I realize I am dependent solely upon God. He is ultimately in charge, but He has asked us to join Him in this life. He has given us dominion over His creation. He appoints each of us to position in which we can make a difference by taking our responsibility seriously.

So as a Christian, Pastor, Husband, Father, Friend and so forth…I choose to take charge and take responsibility!
