Easter – The Bunny or the Grave?
ByEaster is not what it use to be…and I am not that old!!!!! Sure, the Easter bunny was around when I was a little kid…I liked the candy and the baskets, but the guy with long ears has nothing to do with Easter. I am sure some people can come up with a 1,000 traditions for the Easter bunny, but the Easter Bunny needs to go. Why? If you ask someone about Easter and what it is about…you guessed it…they will say the Easter bunny, or Spring Break if they are a college student!
My point…Easter is about a Grave!!!!! Sounds morbid doesn’t it? Well this is one cemetary that Death cannot old the Grave closed. Easter is about three days in the grave and then, BAM!!! Jesus is raised from the Dead. We need to teach our culture and proclaim this truth every opportunity we get. Easter is about the Risen Lord!!!!
Before I get a bunch of hate mail…I am not saying to stop the candy or basket tradition. Nor am I saying you cannot have an easter egg hunt…but let’s be clear about the message we send. Easter is not about these things…it is about JESUS!!!!
