In the aftermath of VBS 2009 I realize how profound this truth is in life…everything comes back to Jesus. I have also realized that this is one boomerang Satan wants to stop from getting back to us.
This truth is paramount to our culture…it is truth that Kids, youth and adults alike all need to here and learn.
VBS reminded me once again why Jesus said to bring the little children to Him, that it is better to place a milestone about your neck and jump into the sea than to make one of these little one stumble and why it is so important to come to Jesus with child like faith. VBS reminds me of what is really important for all generations.
I am more convinced than ever that VBS done with excellence can reach all age groups. It is all about living out child-like faith that Christ asks of us. This is something that kids understand and do naturally and it is something that youth and adults need to reconnect with so that is resonates in our hearts. Jesus is asking us to have child-like faith as we remember that in life “IT ALL COMES BACK TO JESUS.”
First off….THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!! Praise the Lord for everyone who has and is working so hard for the Lord to make VBS a life changing experience.
As we ventured to Outrigger Island to caught a big wave…the WAVE OF GOD IS REAL!!! The reality of God in our world is overwhelming. The kids, youth and adults learned that God is as real as the person next to you. It is awesome to know that we serve the REAL GOD who created all things!!!!
I want you to know that the Devil is nervous and God is on the move. That is awesome. We already had a couple of youth saved (Brittany and Paige)…I know others will too!
The place truly looks awesome…just like a tropical paradise. Hawaii would be jealous!!!
I want to encourage everyone to realize this week will be exhausting, but rewarding. Remember to stay focused on Christ, be prayerful and patient in all things…it is all GOOD because God is GOOD…All the time!
Day 1 was a little hectic…front door being busted…thanks the Bob G. It is already fixed…air conditioning not working in one of the rooms…a few personalities/attitude issues (which we all have by the way)…working out timing/schedules and other things and the chaos of just managing 130 kids is enough to make your head spin. BUT IT IS AWESOME>>> and we are doing a GREAT JOB!!!!
Just remember God has brought us to this point to reach those who need Christ, to disciple those who do know Christ, to develop our character (which He is doing whether you realize it or not…He worked on me last night) and to have fun…did I say have fun..oh yeah…have fun okay!~! Are we having fun!!! Okay I will stop the fun thing…I think you get the drift!!!! Or should I say SURF!!!
Keep up the great work everyone…let’s join God. Continue to be in prayer for yourself and one another. It is hard to believe VBS is actually here…it will be over before you know it…so let’s enjoy every moment.
I want to first of all thank God for what He did. Without you God, we could not have done it. Second, I want to thank all the volunteers for another awesome VBS. Third, I want to thank all the parents who brought their kids. And last I want to thank the kids for reminding me and everyone else why we do this every year…you guys are worth it!
During VBS this year we had 191 learners and 62 volunteers. We had 15 decisions for Christ…PRAISE THE LORD!!!!!! We collected nearly $200 for Fellowship of Christian Athletes and for the church restart at Eastside Baptist. Lastly, we collected 94 bottles of water, 95 power bars, and 55 sports drinks for our first ever VBS mission project that went to the Kent State University football team. As promised to the youth if they got 50 youth present at VBS, I would dye my hair PINK. There are still traces of it in my hair…great job to everyone!!!!!!
On our family night we had a tailgate party and night full of fun events. The kids totally loved the neo jumpers, horse rides, pop corn, cotton candy, and snow cones. It was really cool having Coach Tobi Jacobi, Running Back Eugene Jarvis #6, Line Backer Stevon Moss #44, Corner Back Jack Williams #2, and Offensive Guard Joe Marafine #65 from the Kent State Football Team and Danny Muir #95 of the Green Bay Packers as our visitors for autographs and photos.
The week was exhausting but when all was said and done, the worship rally pumped everyone up, the music team motivated us all, the teachers taught us strategies for life, missions taught us how to get into the game, the snacks were stadium ready, the recreation gave us a great work out, crafts taught us how to be creative in our game play, security provided us with safety coverage and the administrative team knew how to run the draft….it was a true VICTORY for Jesus…AWESOME JOB!!!!!
I can’t wait to see what God will do through VBS next year…way to go team Broadman!!!!
Judgment House was once again very awesome. The ability to use drama to create a real life scenario that touches teens and adults is a grea and mighty tool to use for God’s glory.
This year Broadman took more people than ever before. We had 62 people go…42 of them being youth! Everyone was touched by the experience.
As a result we had a total of seven that either accepted Christ, want to be baptized or rededicated their lives to Christ. These are just the ones that publically acknowledge what God was doing in their lives. I cannot wait to see what God did in all of us! I know it motivated me to share my faith more. I need to be more forward with my faith and deliberately sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.
I praise God for this experience! I praise God for the youth! (No church our size as a youth group like ours…I say that with sincerity, not pride!) May we all learn to walk closer with our Lord and less in the flesh as a result of this experience.
Thank you for viewing our website. May it be an equipping resource to our membership and a source of information to our special guests who visit our website. May you come to discover that Broadman is a special place to worship and a great family church. So if you are looking for a church home that loves God, loves one another, exalts Christ, preaches the truth, is multi-generational, and is alive and thriving -- then welcome to Broadman! We truly are a church that makes a difference for Jesus Christ in a person's life and in our community. We hope you will come experience the Broadman difference soon! --- Pastor Chris McCombs
