Family of God,
I enjoyed reTHINKING church with you on Sunday. It was only the beginning, but I hope we all opened our hearts to God to reTHINK Church so that we make sure we are doing church God’s way. The sad truth is many people leave church never to return. This is not necessarily our fault. However, we must make sure we do everything we can within reason to create a church that honors God and removes obstacles that may cause people to leave or not stay.
Please note that I am not saying comprise the truth…we never compromise the message of God’s ways, teachings or Gospel. But we can compromise on methodology.
I do believe the Broadman is a unique body of Christ. I believe we have established a church that honors God by connecting with God, creating community, and proclaiming God’s truth.
In the end may God honor our attempts to reconnect with people who have left church. We had a good showing. Whether they come back to stay or not at least we tried and for those we invited who did not come, we may have to move on, but in our hearts may we always be mindful and ready to reach out.
Blessings to all of you,
PC
In the aftermath of VBS 2009 I realize how profound this truth is in life…everything comes back to Jesus. I have also realized that this is one boomerang Satan wants to stop from getting back to us.
This truth is paramount to our culture…it is truth that Kids, youth and adults alike all need to here and learn.
VBS reminded me once again why Jesus said to bring the little children to Him, that it is better to place a milestone about your neck and jump into the sea than to make one of these little one stumble and why it is so important to come to Jesus with child like faith. VBS reminds me of what is really important for all generations.
I am more convinced than ever that VBS done with excellence can reach all age groups. It is all about living out child-like faith that Christ asks of us. This is something that kids understand and do naturally and it is something that youth and adults need to reconnect with so that is resonates in our hearts. Jesus is asking us to have child-like faith as we remember that in life “IT ALL COMES BACK TO JESUS.”

Praise the Lord…it is so exciting to see young lives changed for Jesus Christ.
May the Lord continue to bless and multiply and may we continue to go into the fields ready for harvest.

Memorial Day in America is a time to remember those who have given their lives for this nation in the U.S. Forces. I realize it is also a time to visit the gravesides of loved one and to have parades and so forth. But the deeper meaning is that someone gave their life for a cause. Jesus said, “Greater love has no one than to lay down their life for another.” Jesus gave His life for us…teaching us that FREEDOM ISN’T FREE.
Jesus paid a debt we could never pay. Jesus laid down His life as a ransom for our soul. We are free because of the FREEDOM He bought with His blood. This Freedom is eternal. This does not down play the sacrifice of all the men and women who gave their lives for our freedoms as American’s…they are an example of freedom for each of us.
May we never forget that Freedom comes at a cost…when peace is lost in one area or culture it threatens peace everywhere. Only through the precious blood of Jesus can we experience the true peace of freedom.
I took the time to write Rick Warren’s media personnel about his comments on Larry King Live. Here was there response. This is information I thought you needed to know in order to follow up on things. I still think Rick Warren should have been more vocal on this topic. “To whom much is given, much is required.” Rick Warren is a leader with great influence. God’s truths need to be clearly stated in a loving way. It is still my opinion that he was not a forward as he could have and should have been.
Thank you for taking the time to express your concerns, thoughts, prayers, and questions regarding Pastor Warren’s stance on Proposition 8 and marriage. We hope that the following information will clarify the issue.
Pastor Warren has responded to media interpretations of the April 6 appearance on CNN “Larry King Live” by reconfirming that he remains committed to the biblical definition of marriage as between one man and one woman, for life — without exception — a position shared by most fellow Evangelical pastors. He has further stressed that for 5,000 years, every culture and every religion has maintained this worldview.
The letter of apology Pastor Warren referenced sending to gay leaders whom he knew personally was not with respect to his statements or position on Proposition 8 nor the biblical worldview on marriage. Rather, he apologized for his comments in an earlier Beliefnet interview expressing his concern about expanding or redefining the definition of marriage beyond a husband-wife relationship, during which he unintentionally and regrettably gave the impression that consensual adult same sex relationships were equivalent to incest or pedophilia.
