Blogging – a Good or Bad Thing!
Posted by: | CommentsI have written an article like this before. So this is a repeat. However, from time to time people question why pastor’s blog and some question the content. This is a perfect time to reflect.
Blogging is something I do in spurts. THings happen in my life, my ministry, community, nation, the church etc. These things build up in my soul and I form ideas, thoughts, insights etc. I am a very transparent person. I wear my faith on my sleeve like a flame in the night. I like it that way. Sometimes people don’t like my transparency, some are uncomfortable with that. But to me…I want to be real! I want the people to relate with me, my life and my ministry! That is important to me.
So why do I blog. To communicate my heart to God’s people. To let them see the real me. To see that I am human, I can get hurt, I have ideas, I have opinions, and yes, I even have struggles. But I also what people to see that God is at work in my life, their lives, and this church. God is real and God is in every moment of every day. I also want people to see that God is good and that we are so blessed.
There are so many reasons why to blog. But I cannot think of any sufficent reason why not to blog. Can the things I write offend someone…perhaps…although that is not my intent. I think that blogging is more good than bad. I think it is true and pure and honest. I think it shows the real me. I think it connects people with their pastor in a supernatural and natural way!
So this blog is for you Broadman…I love you!

Why Blog?
Posted by: | CommentsThis is just an update of why blog? I have done a lot of reading on the potentional ministry of blogging. SOme pastors are for it and some are against it! However, it is my prayer and hope that members and visitors get a since of who there pastor is. Blogging is like journaling. I share my thoughts and insights on topics…to encourage, not offend. Blogging is an edifying tool for minsitry in my opinion. It also allows for me to express myself. And it let’s you see the real me as you read about my vicotories and hurts. It let’s everyone know that we are in this journey called life together. But we don’t walk alone…God is with us and we have eachother.
Blogging for the fun of it!

I found out about a Tragedy Today
Posted by: | CommentsWell they say blogging is like journaling and today I need to journal. So please forgive me if I ramble or things don’t make since. Today I got a call from my Dad with some really bad news. He told me someone in my home town of Oldhame County that there was a shooting. He wanted to tell me before I heard it on the news or something like that.
My first thoughts were was Mom and my family okay. WHich they are thank God. But then he told me a man shot someone for cheating on his wife and then shot his wife. Then he told me who the shooter was and I could not beleive it. It was a person who I knew in High School. I went to church youth and other activities with. I was also the best man in his wedding.
What is ironic is that I tracked him down a couple of years ago and our families got togehter. Things seemed so perfect. A beautiful family.
I am still in shock about this. What would have caused him to do this? It is not the person I once knew. I would have vouched for his character any day of the year. I could never have imagined this.
I have prayed and shed some tears over this. I am still is disbelief. I cannot even begin to explain this one. I pray for his wife and children. I hope she will make it and I hope the kids will somehow be able to process this out.
This world is not our friend. The ugliness, pain, and hurt…the Evil One won today through this tragedy. But thank God for Jesus Christ who is the ultimate victor even through such horror as this!
As I end this blog…I am still taking it all in. Do I go visit him? Do I contact the family? Do I check on the kids? I don’t know what I will do…but I pray!
Lessons Learned from a Fallen World
Posted by: | CommentsGreetings to all bloggers – especially to the beloved in Christ who visit this blog for encouragement, edification, and a challenge. It remains my intent to use this blog for the glory of God. All who surf this blog may God speak to their heart with Truth!
The other day I learned just how fallen, perverse and cursed our world is because of SIN! Of course nothing shocks me anymore. Sin is so embraced at large by our culture that people embrace sin as righteousness at times.
Someone commented to my blog. On that person’s personal site someone else commented and posted pornographic material. I deleted the comment so that there was no longer a link. But this goes to show the ways of the world.
Is it a risk blogging. Yes, as I have found out. But this does not mean blogging is bad. I still hold hope that this will be a way for us (speaking to Broadman Baptist Church) can communicate on some tough issues. And a way that I can try to SPEAK TO THE TRUTH to the world that is Lost and does not even realize it.
I pray for America and the lost world. For someday they will awaken from their sleep as the sky is cracked and Christ has returned as Judge of the World. What a sad day for them, but a glorious day for all who walk in the Light of Christ.
My point is that this world is fallen! From Adam and Eve – to the lineage of Cain; we are sinners! People will do ungodly things. This is a reality we must face, but let us not turn from engaging their world.
First Contact
Posted by: | CommentsI am new to the blog world, but I belive there is great potential to communicate the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world through this medium. I hope to communicate with my congregation as well this way. I am sure that I will post culturally relevant articles and speak with passion on all kinds of events, people, places and things. I will always use the Word of God as my source of authority. I hope that those who share a biblical worldview with me will be encouraged. Those who are struggling to be challenged and those who walk from a secular worldview to be convicted by the truth.
First Contact is simply my attempt to reach out to the blog world. To go where I have never gone before. And for those who do not know the Love of Jesus Christ to dare to go where you have never been.
