David S. Talbott – AN OLD FRIEND

By Pastor Chris

Last night I received a phone call from a close friend of mine from High School – Eric Stotts. He was calling to let me know that a friend of ours from our school days – David Talbott died in a car accident. It caught me off guard even though I had not seen David in over 10 years. I have found memories and love for David. He and I were like best friends in 6th and 7th grade. He was my partner in crime in my bad years…emphasis on bad! But God had a plan. it was partly because of David that I am a Christian and a pastor today. There are a lot of things that led to my salvation…family, church and more, but it was God crossing my path with David Talbott that led to the moment of surrendering my life. Because it was David’s mother – Josie Talbott who made me question my faith. I had false security and had never truly surrendered my life to Christ. It was her questions that led me to seek Christ and finally find Christ on July 3, 1985 on a family vacation to Florida. David may only now in eternity realize the pivotal role he played and his mother Josie may never know unless she reads this blog until she gets to Heaven. But I am eternally grateful for God bringing David Talbott into my life.

In closing I have fond memories of David. He was a good friend. Even though we drifted apart over the years and took different paths. I hold him in high regard and will always consider him an old friend. May the Lord God watch over you my friend, may He have mercy on you, and may you dwell in the House of the Lord forever. I will see you again!
