Today in what is known as Maundy Thursday…the day in which we have a Tenebrae Service – A SERVICE OF DARKNESS.

It reminds all of us about the dark side of humanity.  The darkness of sin that lurks in each and everyone of us.  We all have the potential to do very bad, even wicked things “for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.”  It also reminds us that Jesus entered our darkness to save us.  He endured betrayal, denial, false accusations, mockery, beatings, and even the cross.  Some may ask why Jesus did this?  The answer is simple – He did it for us.  The pain He endured, even death on a cross was for us.  Jesus thought of us…more specifically…He thought of you and me.  He did not come to condemn the world but to save the world.  And all who believe in Him will be saved from the consequences of sin that follow us into the grave and into eternity.  The Light (Jesus) came into the world of darkness…so that we may live by His Light.

So on this night of darkness remember…remember His pain…remember His suffering…remember His anquish.  Walk with Him on this journey…let His pain change your life….let Him take your place…so that you might live in light instead of darkness!  For out of the darkest moment of humanity is the faint glimmer of light of the coming resurrection.  And when the resurrection comes…the light casts out the darkness.
