PEACE

Posted by: Pastor Chris | Comments (0)

Let’s not forget that this time of year reminds us of PEACE ON EARTH.

Please pray for the PEACE OF ISRAEL…GOd calls us to this in the Scriptures.  And let’s pray for PEACE in the MIDDLE EAST.  Pray for Peace in our own land especially politicially, socially, culturally, economically etc.  Let’s Pray for the PEACE OF CHRIST to fall on the land of America in such a way that we are eternally changed and that we will follow Him.  And lastly, let pray for the PEACE OF CHRIST over our lives, our church and our community.

Peace!

Sharing my Heart with my Flock

Posted by: Pastor Chris | Comments (0)

Let me share with all of you who read my blog for a minute.  As most of you know I wear my faith out on my sleeve…I hope like a flame in the night.  I want you to know my heart.  I want you to see my strenght and weaknesses.  I want all in my flock to know that I am genuine and real, not fake.  I also want the flock to know that I struggle too!  But I also want everyone to know that my source of strenght, joy and encouragement is Christ and Christ alone.  I also want everyone to that I turn to the Scriptures and prayer when I need guidance…the Good Book tells us how to live and if we obey it then God’s blessings are there!!!

As your Pastor I know that I am well embraced.  Time and time again you all prove your love for me and my family.  I am eternally grateful for your warm embrace.  I also admire your courage and faithfulness.  THe vast majority of the flock truly are seeking God, yiedling to His WOrd and strivingt to walk for Christ.  Most want to hear the WORD preached in Truth and Love…but with a fire and passion.  I hope that is what I do bring.  And for most I know it is.

Now let me twist it a litttle, because I care.  As a pastor sometimes our decisions and sermons are questioned and I DON’T even know it!  Sometimes this gets back to me.  It hurts becasue I am human, but I know it is part of my calling.  The undershepherd will always have some in the flock be disgruntled.

I hope that for those reading this that as we grow together in UNITY and HARMONY at Broadman that when we do have questions that we will seek Christ and go to the source.  If a sermon and a decision ever bothers or concerns you…don’t talk about it…come talk to me or your deacon.

May this be advice that we all follow so that the Unity of the Brethren prevails always.

REmember I am just sharing my heart as I look back at my ministry over the past couple of years and reading some books on issues of unity in the Body.

Let’s Follow the Spirit of God, let’s Obey His Word, let’s respect the leadership of the Church, and let’ communicate with one antoher in a relationship of love and peace.  I know we will be a better church as a result.

I hope this has blessed someone!

Yesterday I got word that a tragedy struck a dear friend of mine.  And right now I am looking for grace in the presence of pain and asking God to supernatural help the Starfenstein family through this great time of pain and loss.

I met the Starfenstein’s while I was in seminary in New Orleans.  We ended up attending FBC of New Orleans and Jodi and Jennifer where leaders in our Sunday School class.  Jodi ended up being a very dear friend and brother in Christ to me.

In the wake of Katrina I tried to track down the Starfenstein’s with no luck.  I did find out that they had moved and no longer lived in New Orleans…so I assumed all was well.  Then this past summer I went to SLidell, LA on a church mission project.  I was supposed to preach, but thank God that got cancelled (you probably never thought you would hear a pastor say that).  But as a result I was in church at FBC Slidell with the mission team, and it was there that I ran into the Starfenstein’s and was reunited.

There was great joy and the rekindling of a friendship and covering lost time.  It was really nice.  IN fact, Jodi and Jennifer invited the entire mission team over to their house one evening for a cook out and to swim.  It was great!

That is why the news I got last nigth hit so hard.  This past summer after being reunited and seeing those four precious girls and knowing that the Starfensteins 2nd oldest daughter was named Savannah like my little one…makes this tragedy fill my heart with great pain.

The Starfenstein’s daughter (Savannah) was in a Christmas parade.  While trying to board a float it her foot got caught and she was pulled under the moving (slowly) float.  But it still ran over her.  Jodi and Jennifer were right there.  They got to Savannah immediately.  But Savannah was called home.

I hold back tears right now thinking about the greatness of this loss for Jodi and Jennifer.  I cannot phathom the pain.  I lost a daughter at birth, I cannot imagine losing a daughter at 9.

I know God has a plan…I know that He is in charge of this sin sick world and all the bad things that happen.  I know that in Heaven there is no pain and I know that for Savannah death has no sting because she knew Jesus!!!  But the pain is present.

For the Starfensteins I pray for GOd’s grace in the presence of this pain.  I pray for the loving arms of Christ to hold them.  I pray that the love of the saints can help them.

Until the day we see OUR LORD face to face, and Savannah too…may God grace be sufficent.

JESUS

Posted by: Pastor Chris | Comments (0)

To all who come across this blog…I have two questions:

1.  Do you know Jesus?

2.  What are you doing as a result of that relationship?

If you want to know how to become a Christ-follow start by admitting your sin to the true living God, then believe in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ that Jesus is the atonement for our sin and then confess Jesus as your Lord and Savior and live for Him forever more!

If you want to do this say this prayer:

Lord Jesus I confess the fact that I am a sinner.  I ask you to forgive me of my sin through your shed blood.  I thank you for your forgiveness.  I ask you to come into my life completely.  I surrender my life to you and want to follow you all the days of my life as my Savior and Lord.  Amen!

The Reason for the Season is upon us.  There is excitement and anticipation.  I want to pray for each of us this time of year that we not get caught up in the "Hustle and Bustle" that we miss Jesus.  This is a time of such joy.  Experience, expect and anticipate it!  May God grant each of us HIS JOY – For Joy to the World the Lord has Come…His name is JESUS!!!!!!!
