Kathleen and Beulah Land
Posted by: | CommentsToday I did Kathleen Price’s funeral. She was a dear women of the faith. She was one of the founding members of our church. She will be missed. I was especially moved by the love of her husband Jim. You could feel the loss. The hurt of loosing a soulmate must be difficult. But someday they will see each other again! The love of her family was overwhelming. They truly made me feel like part of the family.
It was an honor to be the overseer for Katheleen during this part of her life. I know she is in the arms of Jesus!
Kathleen…I miss you and will see you again in Beulah land. And to the Price family may God comfort and give you His peace. Thanks for allowing me the honor of officiating the funeral and allowing me to minister to your family.

Easter Was SOOO Powerful!
Posted by: | CommentsTHE WOW FACTOR: A Personal Reflection on Easter Morning!
After Easter worship service I left with one word on my mind…WOW! What a powerful display of God moving in our midst. The church was filled with 241 in attendance Easter morning, which is the most in attendance in the history of the church! Additionally, over the past month we have seen the altar full of people coming forward for salvation, baptism, rededication, membership, and for inner healing/anointing for their lives. We even witnessed a marriage proposal at the conclusion of Easter’s worship. It has been awesome! It has been exciting! I am looking at Easter morning as the icing on the cake for a great month of worship, but God is not done with us! His movement does not stop! I believe this is simply the continuation of God’s blessing on our church and a foretaste of what God has in store for us…He is pouring out His blessing and moving in our midst like I have never seen before in my life. It is time for each of us to make a commitment to join God at what He is doing right now in our midst. Each of us knows how God is working in our midst, some of us have yet to join Him at His work. What is God calling you to do with you life? What is your response to Easter morning? I am sure that as each of us reflects on Easter morning, and as we let the Risen Lord stir our hearts more great things can be anticipated. As I pray about this and think of all the possibilities I am left with one thought…WOW!
Another Saint goes for the Glory
Posted by: | CommentsThis past week I attended a funeral for a fellow pastor, Dale Smith. He pastored Sherwood Baptist Church for 37 years. Dale will always have a special place in my heart because I preached my trial sermon at Sherwood when coming to Broadman as a pastoral candidate. He was always a loving and kind man. He will be missed.
Dale…I will see you in glory land someday!
YEC was a WOW experience!
Posted by: | CommentsYEC 2006: Another WOW experience!
YEC this year was not just for the youth, I learned more about being a Christian this past weekend than I have in a really long time. For me it was not about the speaker Ergan Caner, although God spoke through him to me. It was not about the bands, although Big Daddy Weave is one of my favorites. It was what God did in my heart and the hearts of many others in our church that impacted me the most.
We took 45 people total to YEC, the most this church has ever taken to YEC…WOW once again! I truly believe that God bonded many of the youth and moved in their hearts. Now I pray that they will all continue to let God move in their lives.
If you were not at Wednesday Night Worship you truly missed a great blessing! The youth and adults that attended YEC shared with the congregation what they experienced. There were tears and laughter. There was evidence of God’s hand moving and continuing to move in our youth. It was awesome! So please join me as we continue to pray that this experience will not be a one-time experience that fades away, but that God will use it to stir our hearts to greater growth and commitment.
A Taste of FELLOWSHIP
Posted by: | CommentsToday I went to visit someone who had been visiting our church. It was refeshing to visit someone who simply wanted to have fellowship in Christ. As I sat with this family I realized how the art of fellowship has been lost. I also realized how we Christians should have the monopoly on the topic. But do we really understand it? Do we fellowship with people or are our lives too busy?
God had fellow in the Trinity before time began. God is GOd the Father, SOn and SPirit! THis is complete unity and fulfilled fellowship!
I was refreshed as I united with my new friends in Christ and I was blessed with genuine fellowship as I visited with them for nearly two hours on a Saturday. I was also uplifted when they told me the one thing drawing them to our church was the friendliness of the people. Which simply reminded me once again that Broadman is truly a church that makes a difference.
Way to go Broadman…authentic and genuine love and fellowship form the nucleus of who we are! I thought I would share this taste of fellowship with you! God Bless!
George Mason
Posted by: | CommentsWHile I have basketball on my brain let me talk about George Mason…the college from the Colonial era’s. George Mason is the father of the bill of rights and had a lot to do with the founding of this nation in colonial days…especially in Virginia. I think it is awesome that this college is in the final four. They represent the idea that the little guy can make it.
I don’t know what will happen…but I am pulling for George Mason College. May their presence in the final four spark the same spark of liberty that was in our forefathers when they started this great nation. May we reflect back on the liberty will each have in this great Nation that GOD has granted us! May we see the Truth of our nation. May we realize that under God we stand, divided we fall. May we see in George Mason that somewhere in each of us is the ability to make a difference.
Go George Mason!
