Do You Know Jesus, the Christ? More importantly, do you know Jesus personally? Is Jesus making a difference in your life? Sometimes in just living, we begin to take life and God for granted. We think we know who Jesus is. We may have heard about Jesus in a church or from a friend or neighbor. But who is this Jesus?
Who Is Jesus? The name of Jesus comes from the Greek for Joshua, which means God is salvation. Note also the name of Jesus in the account of His birth to Mary: She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins. (Matthew 1:21) Simply, Jesus is the Savior. He is God with us. (Matthew 1:23) He is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world! (John 1:29)
The Bible also tells us that Jesus is our only sure and lasting refuge for hope, peace and comfort. Because of sin, every one of us has been separated from God who is absolutely holy. Stress, hopelessness and emotional and spiritual pain overwhelm us. We do not know where to turn. Jesus says, Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)
The Difference Jesus Makes Jesus Christ can make the difference in your life. He can give you rest. He is the giver of comfort, peace and a hope that is eternal. All you need to do is to get to know Him personally. For more on how to get to know Jesus, the Christ, contact Pastor Chris.

In 1863, Abraham Lincoln called for a National Day of Prayer. Officially, the National Day of Prayer was established as an annual event by an act of Congress in 1952 and was signed into law by President Truman. The law was amended in 1988 and signed by President Ronald Reagan, establishing the Nation Day of Prayer as the first Thursday of May each year.
Broadman Baptist Church acknowledges the need for our Nation to pray for national repentance and for God’s blessings. We support the National Day of Prayer as part of our nations heritage. As Christians we should honor this day and promote this day so that our nation may turn back to the God of our nation.
2 Chronicles 7:13-15 13 If I close the sky so there is no rain, or if I command the grasshopper to consume the land, or if I send pestilence on My people, and My people who are called by My name humble themselves, pray and seek My face, and turn from their evil ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land. 15 My eyes will now be open and My ears attentive to prayer from this place.

What fills your heart when you see the Red-White-and-Blue? To me, there is something that moves in my heart every time I see those colors flying high, on display, or presented in a ceremony. There is something almost majestic about a flag flying at full mast in high winds, as it waves with such splendor, beauty, and honor. There is something almost sacred about seeing an honor guard displaying the colors with such dignity, precision, and pride. There is something almost eternal about seeing the colors presented to a loved one who received military honors for their service to our great nation. The fact is that wherever She flies or stands on display She deserves such respect.
Perhaps my feelings come from my military background. But for some reason I have always been proud of the American flag — even as a child. I will never forget saying the pledge every morning in school. Nor will I ever forget all the times I have carried Her, presented Her, represented Her, and defended Her. I can only image what Francis Scott Key experienced when at the dawn’s early light he saw the Red-White-and-Blue still flying high. It was a moment we all need to ponder. For the Red-White-and-Blue stands for freedom, reminds us of those who have gone before us, gives us hope for tomorrow, reminds us to stand on the ideals that have made this nation great, reminds us that we are to be united, reminds us that we are one nation under God and She reminds us that freedom isn’t free. You’re a Grand Old Flag I love the Red- White-and-Blue! How about you? –– Pastor Chris

BIBLE SOFTWARE Comments and Recommendations by Pastor Chris Have you ever tried to find a Bible verse and not been able to find it? In the ole days you had to use a concordance to find a verse. Today there are Bible programs that will allow you to do a search for a Bible verse or Topic in a few seconds that would have taken hours previously.
I have tried out many different versions and brands of online Bible software, but have generally found myself using two the most — Logos (now called Libronix), and Bibleworks.
LIBRONICS (LOGOS) Libronix is a true Bible Study / Library software. Like all good Bible software you can study different Bible versions. But you also have the ability to buy and integrate with you Logos library literally thousands of different Christian commentaries, dictionaries, and almost every thing else you might find helpful to your Bible study.
There are a three things that I believe make Libronix stand out above some of the other Bible Software packages:
Free Upgrades to the main software — Every other Bible software requires the user to pay for upgrades. This helps to ensure that your e-books don’t become outdated.
Depth and Amount of Possible resources — There are thousands of books that can be added to your library. You don’t have to buy a huge library of books at one time: you can add to your library each year!
Features — Libronix is very innovative with new features and add-ins that can perform complicated research easily and quickly.
BIBLEWORKS Bibleworks is for those who just want to study the Bible without using a lot of other texts like commentaries. Many people do not want to learn Biblical Greek or Hebrew. Bibleworks makes it easier for non-experts to develop an understanding of the Biblical languages (the morphology of the varies words is already provided.) It also includes some good Lexicons (Greek and Hebrew dictionaires).
Bibleworks is very fast: typical searches of the whole Bible generally take only a second or two. If in-depth study of the Biblical Text is what you like, Bibleworks is great. The product is quite stable. I have never had it crash in the several years I have used it.
