You are invited to attend classes at Broadman taught by Dave Ramsey and learn how to get your financial house in order. Learn about DEBT, REAL ESTATE, MUTUAL FUNDS, CREDIT, MORTGAGES and many other MONEY MATTERS.

 …..FPU will be held in the Youth Room at Broadman on Thursdays at 7:00 pm. The course is 13 weeks long. Each class lasts approximately two hours. Purchase kits ($109 each) through the Dave Ramsey website www.daveramsey.com.
Orientations: Sunday, July 25, 2010, at 12:30 pm and Thursday, July 29, 2010, at 7:00 pm. Classes begin: August 5, 2010 Classes end: October 28, 2010

Since then, lots of wonderful things have happened in my life; I married a wonderful man in 2007, Dave. This up coming FPU will be the 9th one held at Broadman Baptist. FPU teaches God’s people to live by God’s financial advice found in the Word of God. Too many people who are called by God’s name are unable to give God’s way or live God’s way because they are slaves to the lenders and are in bondage of self-induced debt because they have allowed themselves to conform to the ways of the world. I can only pray that God’s people will find financial freedom by using FPU as an equipping tool.

Honestly, we do not do everything that Dave Ramsey teaches down to the letter of the law, but we do apply the big principles that his curriculum is based upon from the Word of God. Fortunately, Shawnetta and I made farily wise financial decisions before going through FPU and we had already done many of Dave Ramsey’s baby steps without ever knowing what they were. Put simply we had a financial plan, had a budget, invested in the future and gave God’s way already. “The Great Depression had a strong impact on my dealing with finances since my parents lived through that period. Looking back I can see how well they adapted, by living within their means, a strong savings ethic and their resisting the urge of impulse buying. When Lottie and I first married we set goals of tithing to our church, buying only what we could afford, providing for and educating our children and saving for the future — and we met these goals. I think all of these things are Dave Ramsey’s goals as well. . MARTY AND I HAVE PAID OFF OVER $3,000.00 OF MEDICAL AND CREDIT CARD DEBT IN 4 MONTHS. WHAT A GREAT FEELING; AND EVERY TIME WE PAY OFF SOMETHING WE DANCE TO CELEBRATE A VICTORY. THE FPU CLASS HELPED US IN KNOWING THAT THERE IS LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL AND THAT WE WILL BE DEBT FREE. IT ALSO LET US KNOW THAT WE WERE NOT THE ONLY ONES WHO ARE IN DEBT. OUR DEBT STARTED IN 2006 WHEN MARTY HAD CANCER AND WAS UNABLE TO WORK FOR 6 MONTHS. WE LIVED ON CREDIT CARDS FOR 6 MONTHS TO HELP PAY FOR RXs THAT THE INSURANCE DIDN’T COVER. WELL, IT JUST WENT FROM BAD TO WORSE AND SO HERE WE ARE TRYING TO PAY FOR IT ALL. I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT I’M REALLY GLAD THAT I TOOK THE CLASS, AND DAVE RAMSEY GAVE ME THE STRENGTH TO KNOW THAT I WILL BE OUT OF DEBT AND HOPEFULLY SOON.
