…On April 25, 1951, eight people joined together under the leadership of Rev. Hoyt Douglas for the first service of what would become the Broadman Baptist Church. Beginning in Crawford School in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio as an Independent Baptist Church, the fledgling congregation had eyes of faith as they considered what God had in store for them. Early bulletins carried slogans like A New Baptist Church with the Old Time Religion.
…It wasn’t long before Broadman moved from Crawford School to 1400 Sackett Street in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. This Overhead Door building lovingly became referred to as the Warehouse. It was in this facility that the congregation would unite with the Southern Baptist Convention in 1955 by joining the Erie Association of Baptists. On January 24th, of the following year, the State Convention of Baptists in Ohio was organized and the Falls Baptist Chapel, as it was then called, was a part of that Convention.
… Then, in 1958, under the leadership of Rev. C. Kenneth Hayes, the church again changed its location to the Newberry School on 13th Street in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. The congregation continued to grow and a church site was purchased on 350 East Bath Road October 1958. In the summer of 1959 construction began and the first service was held on January 31st, 1960. ….Broadman Baptist Church continues as a place of worship at 350 East Bath Road in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Many pastors and members have come and gone, but the church still strives to be a place where people can come to worship God and minister to one another.
….The church’s current pastor is Rev. Chris McCombs. Pastor Chris answered the Call to lead Broadman on March 16, 2003. Under his leadership the congregation has seen significant growth and is confident that the ministry of the church will glorify God, grow spiritually, and positively impact the local and world-wide community.
